Women Made of Corn

Participatory Performance “Women Made of Corn”
with Mayra Telumbre, Diana Laura Rodriguez

and Fernanda Franco

Organised by Weaving Realities at

Rijksakademie Amsterdam

17th October 2019

Together, we will make Pozol (an ancestral recipe of cacao and corn) and tortillas as an introduction to ancestral knowledge about indigenous people’s relationality with food. With this performative cooking of corn and cacao whose recipe has its origin in Abya Yala (non-colonized America), we intend to open a space for dialogue within our bodies. By sharing the food and drink together, we will celebrate the lives and struggles of women in recistance to the colonial and patriarcal system.
