Yuchen Li from Weaving Realities Collective presents two participatory performances.

“The Tree Has Ears and They Are Dancing with the Root of Lotus” is an intuitive performance, which invites participants to actively join the food making of the traditional Chinese dish Hotpot, involving stimulating senses of smell, touch, sound, sight, and taste. During the making together, the artist will strike an intuitive conversation with the participants around different personal and social topics.

* This performance is collaborated together with Ioanna Mitza.

“Mi” is an embodied performance, where the artist tells her personal stories with this important crop from her culture. The personal characteristics of the performance does not stop the messages being conveyed in a universally relatable way, with various political interpretations, such as migration, food security and global consumerism.

Through our engagement with the art performances,  we will look at how “sentipensar” thinking through non-rational senses open up possibilities for different world views and ways of knowing ‘otherwise’, bringing radical networks of thought and practice into decolonizing research methodology.
