The Opposite of Fatalism

Group Performance at Neue Hochstraße 51, Berlin

“After living in the same house for 40 years, raising a family not far from the Berlin wall, a friend finds herself alone in a building that has become sold and re-sold to investment companies.  Everyone else kicked out or bought out, but she struggles to stay.

She asked me to make a performance in response and I have asked others to join me in addressing the situation, taking it up as an example to work from and with through moving and talking.”    - Jeremiah Day

14 artists accepted the invitation to engage the site and the situation of this house.

Sharing a collaborative working process, these performances sketch, gesture, embody and evoke this situation as an example of broader public problems faced by many.

This event is invited by Kristine Huschka - house owner of Neue Hochstraße 51, organised by Jeremiah Day and participated by 14 artists namely Cristina Gómez Barrio, Ari Hoffman, Jungmin ParK, Sebastian Bodirsky, Sara Kriegsman, Eleonora Johanna Remmen, Mirte van den Bos, Yuchen Li, Laila Ali Saber Rodriguez, Joris van Buul, Jonas Marx, Kleopatra Vorria, Jeremiah Day, Ionna Mitza and Wonne
